  • What is ancient or Traditional Thai massage?
It is an ancient practice flowing from Thai yoga Ruesi Dat Ton which is linked to Dr. Shivago, doctor and physicist of the Buddha.
  • Do you have to be dressed? Is this an oil massage?
Yes, you have to be dressed in a "real traditional Thai massage" NUAD BO'RARN. No, this is not an oil massage. This version can be found in Thailand today, which includes "some" movements and tools from real traditional Thai massage but it is not the traditional version.
  • Where does the Nuad Bo'Rarn Thai massage take place?
On the ground. Of course, when we say "on the ground", it doesn't mean directly on the ground. The practitioner uses a tatami or thick mat, which is placed directly on the floor. The "massage table" and "chair" versions are adapted versions which emerged following meetings between the West and Asia.
  • Should you be flexible?
We hear a lot of things about Thai massage. Indeed, there have been videos on the internet showing people being stretched in every direction during a Thai massage. In reality, the practitioner respects the recipient. This means that he takes his flexibility into account, and he starts from “where he is”. The goal is to develop well-being, not to damage the body. This is where the meditative dimension will come into account because if the practitioner is skilled in meditation and particularly in the practice of moving meditations, then he will be able to lead the recipient to “let go of the tension”. At Yoga-Massage-Thai.com, this is the basis of our approach, given that Valérie is also a teacher in moving meditation practices such as Kum Nyé or Lu Jong, which have the same origins as yoga. Ruesi Dat Ton, himself at the origin of Nuad Bo'Rarn.
